Present Snow Conditions and Base Depth

The mountain resort now boasts an substantial snow base of 78 inches at the mid-mountain level and 92 inches at the summit, providing excellent coverage across all slopes. Yesterday’s winter system delivered 8 inches of new snow, converting the terrain into a winter wonderland that has skiers and riders eager to carve opening runs. The snowpack state remains exceptional with a stable base layer and light, fluffy powder that provides perfect terrain for both turning and gliding through untouched terrain. Weather data show the snow will preserve its condition throughout the day.

Today’s skiing slope conditions report confirms that the recent snowfall has significantly enhanced the overall mountain experience, with fresh powder complementing the resort’s extensive snowmaking efforts. The combination of natural and machine-made snow has created a consistent surface across all elevations, preventing thin coverage and exposed terrain that sometimes appear during low snowfall periods. Moisture content in the new snow measures at ideal conditions, ensuring excellent edge grip for technical skiing while still providing enough cushion for comfortable landings in park terrain and mogul runs.

Snow quality differs somewhat by elevation and exposure, with north-facing slopes maintaining optimal powder conditions due to limited sun exposure and cooler temperatures. South-facing runs have formed a marginally more compact surface as morning sun starts to take effect, creating perfect spring-type terrain for cruising. The resort’s grooming team has operated in the pre-dawn period to prepare manicured runs on designated trails, while designated powder zones remain untouched for those seeking fresh snow experiences. Overall conditions rank among the season’s best offerings.

Terrain Assessment Across the Alpine Region

The mountain resort is operating with 87% of its terrain accessible, featuring 142 of 163 marked runs suitable for skiing and snowboarding. Fresh overnight snowfall has blanketed the upper elevations with 8 inches of fresh powder, while lower mountain areas got 4 inches of light powder. Grooming crews operated during the early morning hours to prepare 68 trails with corduroy surfaces, ensuring superior snow conditions for carving and cruising across all difficulty levels.

This skiing slope condition assessment indicates that all primary alpine zones remain operational, from the easy learning areas at the bottom to the steep chutes and glades near the summit. Visibility reaches excellent levels with clear skies and direct sun, though wind speeds at the peak attain 15-20 mph. Existing snow levels reach 118 inches at the summit and 76 inches at the lower elevation, providing ample protection over rocks and obstacles throughout the slopes.

Beginner and Advanced Intermediate Slopes

Beginner terrain displays exceptional conditions with 34 green-circle trails well-prepared and open for first-time skiers and those developing skills. The learning zones at the base feature soft, forgiving snow with superior edge grip, making them perfect for developing core techniques. Moving carpet systems and learner lifts operate smoothly with brief waits, typically less than five minutes. Instructors report perfect teaching conditions with consistent snow quality and pleasant conditions hovering around 28 degrees Fahrenheit.

Intermediate blue-square runs constitute the largest portion of accessible terrain with 61 trails offering varied challenges and scenic descents. Mid-mountain groomed boulevards offer long, sweeping runs perfect for gaining velocity and practicing parallel turns. Natural snow coverage on ungroomed intermediate trails stays excellent, with soft bumps forming on popular routes throughout the day. Tree-lined cruisers on the north face maintain excellent snow preservation due to shaded aspects, while south-facing slopes offer warmer conditions and softer snow during afternoon sessions.

Complex and Challenging Terrain

Experienced skiers will find 38 black-diamond runs open with difficult terrain ranging from steep manicured slopes to bump runs and snow-laden glades. The upper mountain expert zones received the most significant snow accumulation overnight, creating deep powder stashes in protected areas between trees and in natural bowls. Mogul runs on well-known black diamond runs have developed nicely with well-spaced bumps offering smooth progression. Narrow steep runs remain partially covered with fresh snow, though some visible rock outcroppings require precise maneuvering and advanced skiing ability.

Double-black-diamond terrain contains 9 extreme runs currently accessible to expert skiers seeking the ultimate test and thrill. The legendary North Face area began operations today with snow accumulation surpassing 12 inches in sheltered pockets and cliff bands. Backcountry gates stay accessible with avalanche danger classified as moderate, requiring proper safety equipment and knowledge. Extreme terrain presents variable conditions including wind-loaded snow near ridgelines, deep powder in sheltered areas, and firm, icy patches on wind-stripped open areas demanding expert edge technique and tactical judgment.

Terrain Parks and Freestyle Areas

The central terrain park includes freshly shaped jumps, rails, and boxes with three progression lines designed for varying ability levels.
