Current Snow Conditions and Foundation Depth

The mountain resort currently features an impressive base depth of 78 inches at the mid-mountain level and 92 inches at the summit, delivering superb conditions across all terrain. Last night’s storm brought 8 inches of fresh powder, turning the runs into a winter wonderland that has winter sports enthusiasts keen to cut first tracks. The snow conditions continues to be excellent with a stable base layer and powder on top that delivers optimal riding for both carving and floating through untouched terrain. Weather data show the snow will keep its characteristics throughout the day.

Today’s skiing slope conditions report shows that the recent snowfall has greatly boosted the overall resort experience, with naturally fallen snow complementing the resort’s robust snowmaking operations. The combination of natural and machine-made snow has created a stable base across all elevations, removing bare patches and exposed rocks that sometimes appear during seasons with limited snow. The moisture level of the fresh snow measures at optimal levels, ensuring superior edge hold for technical skiing while still providing sufficient padding for comfortable landings in park terrain and mogul runs.

Snow quality varies slightly by elevation and exposure, with north-facing slopes preserving the finest powder conditions due to reduced solar impact and cooler temperatures. South-facing runs have created a somewhat harder surface as morning sun commences its influence, creating perfect spring-type terrain for cruising. The resort’s grooming team has labored during early morning to prepare corduroy surfaces on designated trails, while designated powder zones are left ungroomed for those seeking fresh snow experiences. Overall conditions stand as some of the season’s finest.

Terrain Status Throughout the Mountain

The mountain resort is operating with 87% of its terrain open to skiers, featuring 142 of 163 marked runs suitable for skiing and snowboarding. Fresh nighttime snow has blanketed the upper elevations with 8 inches of powder snow, while lower mountain areas received 4 inches of light powder. Grooming crews worked throughout the early morning to prepare 68 trails with corduroy texture, ensuring superior snow conditions for turning and cruising across all skill levels.

This ski slope conditions report reveals that all major mountain zones continue operating, from the easy learning areas at the base to the steep terrain and glades near the peak. Visibility maintains outstanding conditions with cloudless skies and strong sunlight, though wind gusts at the summit hit 15-20 mph. Existing snow levels total 118 inches at the summit and 76 inches at the base, providing deep snow over rocks and obstacles throughout the slopes.

Novice and Intermediate Slopes

Beginner terrain shows excellent conditions with 34 green-circle trails fully groomed and open for first-time skiers and those developing skills. The learning zones at the base feature soft, forgiving snow with superior edge grip, making them excellent for developing core techniques. Moving carpet systems and learner lifts run efficiently with brief waits, typically less than five minutes. Instructors report ideal instructional conditions with stable snow surfaces and pleasant conditions near 28 degrees Fahrenheit.

Intermediate blue-square runs constitute the largest portion of accessible terrain with 61 trails offering varied challenges and scenic descents. Mid-mountain groomed boulevards provide long, sweeping runs perfect for increasing pace and practicing parallel turns. Natural snow coverage on ungroomed intermediate trails remains excellent, with soft bumps building on popular routes throughout the day. Tree-lined cruisers on the north face preserve excellent snow preservation due to shaded aspects, while south-facing slopes deliver warmer conditions and softer snow during afternoon sessions.

Advanced and Expert Terrain

Experienced skiers will discover 38 black-diamond runs open with challenging conditions ranging from steep groomed faces to bump runs and snow-laden glades. The high-altitude expert areas received the heaviest snowfall overnight, creating deep powder stashes in protected areas between trees and in terrain bowls. Bump runs on well-known black diamond runs have developed nicely with evenly-distributed moguls offering rhythm and flow. Steeper chutes remain partially covered with new snow, though some visible rock outcroppings require careful navigation and advanced skiing ability.

Double-black-diamond terrain features 9 extreme runs now open to advanced skiers seeking the ultimate test and thrill. The renowned North Face area began operations today with powder depths surpassing 12 inches in protected areas and cliff bands. Backcountry gates stay accessible with avalanche risk classified as moderate, demanding proper safety equipment and knowledge. Extreme terrain presents changing snow conditions including wind-loaded snow near ridgelines, thick snow in sheltered areas, and firm, icy patches on wind-scoured exposed sections demanding expert edge technique and decision-making abilities.
